The oldest Bishop specimen was collected in 1928 by Langford & Thaanum; Thaanum (Ryukyu Islands; Loochoos; Okinawa; Kumejima; Gima). The Museum last collected it in 1932; iNaturalist observers have seen it in the wild as recently as October 4, 2026.
